John Finds His Artistic Side

I have always known John as a boy who loves to be outside. Whether he's playing soccer, baseball, football or basketball, it doesn't matter.....as long as a ball is involved. His only feedback for the hospital was that they should have PE.

These past few weeks, I have learned that John also has a passion for art and music. One of his highlights was the hour he spent doing oragami with an amazing and talented volunteer. John made an adorable fish and panda bear. Thank you to Grandma Coleen who went off to the art store for oragami supplies.

I am amazed at the patience and focus of John as he explores this new passion. I am excited abut the opportunity to do more of this with John as we enter the world of home schooling. I have always wished there would be more time for my kids to take up an instrument - now we will have it. John wants to play the drums - I am hoping for piano.

John, maybe I'll have to hit Michael's before I come up to get us some fun projects to work on together. I'm so excited to see you, Caroline, Jimmy and your mom and dad!

    Dear Johnny:

I was watching your brother play baseball today. For not playing for a little bit, he was pretty good. He even pitched well, and would have had a 1-2-3 inning, but his defense made 3 errors (he made one of them! ha ha!) Of course, I was on the bench at the time, or I would have made all three outs for him.

I thought you would like to know that "Johnny's Team" in Fanball offically won first place. Your players played awesome. Ben Wemer also has a team named after you, but it's in 5th. Still, I think I won because of your good name.

Take care of yourself. I know my dad and Nicholas are looking forward to when you get better since they designed their Pinto team around you. They must think you're Chase Utley or Albert Pujols or something like that. Are you really that good?

  7. Dear Johnny,

I hope you're feeling better. I want to come visit you when you get home. I'm sorry that I haven't written a card or visited you in the hospital. I feel really bad.

Our basketball team is really good. Maybe this year we'll actually win the Diocese Championship. Don't worry you still haven't lost your job as mascot, and you never will.

I'm kind of mad because I'm missing the first basketball game against St. Raymonds ( that was the team that I missed my two free throws against, and we lost the game).I can't go because I fractured my elbow at basketball practice diving for a ball and Charlie Hocking fell on me. It wasn't his fault, though.

I'm not typing because of my elbow. My mom is doing it for me.My cast is blue for Cal. I've been thinking of you, and I miss you. Can't wait to see you soon, and I hope you feel better.

    Your good friend,
    Ben W.
